Welcome to On the Veranda Literary Journal!

Due to many life changes such as new babies, new jobs, and living in new countries, the editors of On the Veranda have decided to take a hiatus from future publications. We apologize to our readers and all those who have submitted over the past few months. We hope to have the journal back up and running before the end of 2018.

As always, thank you to everyone for your continued support! We wish happy reading and writing to all in 2018.

Sincerely,

Georgia, Mike, and Simon

On the Veranda Literary Journal makes people want to visit the South. Started by a group of creative minds and middle Georgia-transplants, On the Veranda Literary Journal seeks to produce pieces that exemplify what it means to be southern. From moss covered live oak trees to dusty Texas tumbleweeds to sting-your-throat Kentucky bourbon. We are looking for pieces that paint a picture of the wide variety of culture, people, and places that the South has to offer.

Verandas are a place for friends, family, and strangers to gather and share stories and experiences. It is our hope that On the Veranda Literary Journal will emulate that atmosphere in a virtual realm.

We accept fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Send us your best work: whatever you think will make us laugh out loud, shed a few tears, or will make us feel like maybe the world isn’t such a bad place after all. Send us something that we’ll still be talking about hours later when we are rocking back and forth on our veranda, sipping a sweating glass of iced tea.

Please see the Submissions page for more details.
